Celebrating success today!!  With chilly weather moving in, over the weekend I decided to dig out some fall clothes.  I’ve done some major cleaning out over the last 9 months because of our move.  I donated a ton of clothes and got rid of stuff I haven’t wore in a few years.  However, I have a tote of clothes that I’ve saved “hoping” to one day SOON get into them.  I was motivated to work out and lose weight when I was doing all this cleaning out so these clothes were ones I told myself, “When it comes time to pull these out in the fall, I WILL FIT INTO THEM!”  I found this tote on Sunday.  I opened it and looked at all the clothes.  I stood there starring at them.  I wanted to try them on but that fear of disappointment was winning the battle.  I had NO desire to try them on and be disappointed they didn’t fit.  I really was not in the mood to deal with that.

Well, after a few minutes, I finally got up the courage to do it after I had pulled on a pair of black cotton pants from last year and much to my surprise, they were a little baggy!  OKAY!  I got this.  Time to try on a few shirts that I had not wore in almost 3 years.  I pull out the first shirt and think, “Oh this is gonna suck!”  I start to feel a strong feeling of disappointment as I pull the shirt over my head and walk into my closet where my full length mirror is………

WAIT A MINUTE!!  HOLD the phone!!  What do I see??

I see SUCCESS!!!!  It fits!!  AMAZING!!  WOW!!  Well, crap.  I’ve got to try on the other shirts.  I try on 4 more shirts and while 3 of them fit well, the 4th shirt was a “What were you thinking??” shirt and it went in a bag to be donated.  BUT, a successful try on!

The excitement was perfect timing.  Although I enjoy walking and for the most part I am liking my workouts, a bit of disappointment and frustration had set in.  I needed this.  I’m so glad I tried those shirts on AND my blue jeans that are also baggy.  While friends can encourage you and support you…..seeing the results is what keeps you going.  It’s the simple things like this that renew your push to keep going!  I’ve got the WANT back this week and have made it through 2 killer workouts!!

Exercising rant of the day……

On this journey to fit I am currently on, I’ve struggled with the exercising side of things.  I’ve never been one who likes to workout and exercise.  I’ve always thought I had better things to do with my time.  Well, let me just say, I’ve found out over the last several months that I actually enjoy it.  To an extent.  We have a great neighborhood to walk in.  I LOVE to walk.  I find it relaxing and refreshing.  I can walk fast or I can walk slow.  Either way I am still getting exercise.  My schedule for the last two months has been to walk in the morning for 30-45 minutes and then exercise at home 15-30 minutes.  I’m liking this schedule.  My workouts at home are mixed up.  I have three different options I use.  So here’s where my rant comes in for the day…….I feel like I’ve made some great progress.  I’m enjoying the exercising, seeing an improvement in soreness, and not struggling to make it through the workout.  But it seems like no matter how hard I push myself, change things up, or how many days I workout, the scale is not changing much.  I’m seeing inch loss in areas but not much weight loss.  This is starting to become frustrating.  However, I’m determined to not let it get me down.  I’m going to keep pushing forward and hopefully in time, all of this will start to pay off.  I will say, I am looking forward to starting the It Works! Global Ultimate Makeover Challenge again and hoping this will help boost things for me again.  🙂
